- What is the Cyberspace Companion?
- The Cyberspace Companion is an introduction to using computers in your classes here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This module will help you started in understanding the capabilities that computers provide to you.
- What are some uses for the Cyberspace Companion?
- It can be used to learn the basics about Computing and Computer Networking as it pertains to your virtual future. You can also step through software tutorials on the many different packages which you will use in your studies. You will also find a software archive where you can download the necessary software to run everything from your home computer. If you want to communicate with other students on the web, you can post messages to the chat space.
- In addition to the above references for your perusal, the cyberspace companion also provides you with the Virtual Dorm Room. It can be used to find information on any country in the world via the CIA World Factbook and if you're hungry and don't want to eat the pizza in the fridge that you ordered late last nite, you can browse the CU Restaurant Guide and once you decide where to eat you may want to check the weather to make sure you leave prepared and you could also check the shopping possibilities in the area of that choice provider of cuisine or if the neighbor has stolen your copy of the DI again this morning - fret not my friend - there are other sources for news as well as sources for books other than the Library and if you need help with that paper that was due last tuesday, don't ask me, rather seek the amazingly appropriate advice of the fine people at the Undergraduate Writing Center of the University of Texas at Austin and if this all has confused you further and you have no idea where to begin, maybe a random start is what you're looking for.
