ACES Council Report- Marla Schnitzler
The T-shirt
design contest is still going on. The design should represent all
7 departments in the college. If you are interested in participating,
e-mail Brea Nelson (bnelson1@uiuc.edu) ASAP. There is a $50 prize
for the winning design.
Applications
for an ACES Council office are available in 101 Mumford.
ACES Open House Report- Marla
Open House is
March 3rd and 4th. We will probably be selling the same items as
last year which were caramel apples and suckers. Donuts and coffee
were also suggested. The display will be set up at Open House as
well. A committee was formed to help Marla plan for Open House.
It consists of Amy Hunter, Angie Haag, Rachel Wiandt, and Eric Brucker.
Old Business
There was a
good turnout for RSO Flag Football. We even made it to the semifinals.
Good Job! A broom ball tournament will also be held in February.
C4-H also had
a great turnout for 4-H Day. For next year, having our own event
which we would have sole control of was brought up.
Two
of our members attended C4-H Regionals in South Dakota. A total of
87 C4-Hers were there. Next years regionals will be at The Ohio State
University. Since we did not have our dues paid at regionals, we
had no voting rights. Paying our dues was brought up. Since
we didn't have enough of our membership present at this meeting, we will
be voting on dues payments at the next meeting.
Angie
talked a little bit about Nationals in Denver, CO February 25-27.
Registration is $125 plus hotel stay which is about $75 per night for 3
nights. Plane tickets will be about $250. An estimated cost
for the trip is at about $600. Hopefully, we will be able to get
SORF funds to bring our cost down.
New Business
A meeting schedule
for next semester was discussed. Marla brought up having one meeting
a month and one service/social event.
The December
meeting date and time was set. It will be Dec. 11 from 12 noon until
2. It will be in either 426 Mumford or the State 4-H Office.
Lunch will be provided.
Rebecca Swearingen
volunteered to work on the display board. Any else interested in
working on it can contact her.
Amy Hunter moved
to adjourn the meeting. Angie Haag seconded and meeting was adjourned.
