Gamma Sigma Delta


Gamma Sigma Delta is the premier honor society in agriculture. It is international in character and has 47 local chapters at universities and colleges offering degrees in agriculture throughout the United States, Honduras, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Gamma Sigma Delta has the broad objective of encouraging advancement in all branches of the agricultural sciences and human ecology. The Illinois chapter began in 1923 and has a rich heritage in scholarship and service. Undergraduates in the upper 5 percent of the junior class or upper 15 percent of the senior class will be invited for membership each spring. In April 1994, 34 undergraduates, 76 graduate students, and two faculty members were initiated into Gamma Sigma Delta.
