Production Information about the Reifsteck Farm


Production Methods:

This farm has potential for erosion, so I have tried to use No-Till farming methods. Part of the farm has been in continuous No-Till since 1986.

Fertility:

The farm has been soil tested since the 1930s. I am very interested in site specific farming, and have been using Illini FS VRT (Variable Rate Technology) soil testing and fertilizer application since 1991. This technology allows me to vary the amount of Phosphorus, Potassium and Limestone applied to different areas of my field according to soil test results.

Yield Maps:

In 1995 I purchased an Agleader combine yield monitor to record on the go yield information. This monitor uses sensors to determine yield and GPS (Global Position System) to record location in the field. Here are the maps:
